Semkovo
Semkovo is a winter resort site, which is just 17 km away from Belitsa, a small town huddled at the foothills of Rila Mountains. Semkovo is surrounded by spruce and pine-tree forests. It has an exceptional view over a chain of high alpine peaks in Rila Mountain.
Semkovo is situated at 1750 meters above sea level. It is located on the southern slope of Rila facing the majestic Pirin Mountain. The place can be reached via a picturesque well-kept asphalt mountain road winding through age-old spruce and pine-tree forests.
Semkovo is known for its vast glades. They are situated at 1600 м above sea level and are just 17 km north from the town of Belitsa.
The resort is the starting point for a few eco-trails. The chalet of Semkovo and two of the entry points for Rila National Park are not very far.
In winter Semkovo is a busy ski-resort. Bulgarian university professors and students often spend their holidays there. At the end of the month of February students, tourists and citizens of the town make a big winter feast – Bela Itsa fiesta.
